Grampians One Day Tour Itinerary

Take a hike to the base of Mackenzie Falls.

One of the well-known waterfalls in Victoria Valley is often visited by tourists who admire its majestic flow of water and enjoy the refreshing mist in the air while hiking to its base and back. The hike to the base and back is approximately 250 steps. Alternatively, a more straightforward walk along a flat route over the top of the falls is also perfectly acceptable. Visitors could opt for a serene hike to Silverband Falls if Mackenzie Falls were unavailable.

Brambuk Aboriginal Cultural Centre

After reaching the picturesque Grampians National Park, visitors can head to Brambuk Aboriginal Cultural Centre to explore and learn about the creation stories that form the lore of this diverse landscape. Guests can also observe wallabies, emus, and echidnas in the surrounding area. This experience provides a deeper understanding of the importance of Gariwerd for the Indigenous people.

Reeds Lookout and The Balconies

Reeds Lookout offers panoramic views of Lake Wartook, the Victoria Valley, and the Mount Difficult Range. After hiking along a shaded path through gum trees and interesting rock formations, you will reach The Balconies. Here, you’ll find the famous ‘Jaws of Death’ with stunning views and scenery featured in the Japanese Animation ‘Princess Mononoke’.

Kangaroo and Wildlife Spotting

In the town of Halls Gap, it is notable that residents do not need to own lawnmowers, as kangaroos can be observed peacefully grazing on the grass in the evenings. You will probably witness various Australian birds, such as kookaburras and emus, during your time in the Grampians. Moreover, you will not depart from the area without encountering a kangaroo. We expect to see echidnas and wallabies in the area. Please remember not to feed wild animals and ensure your camera battery is charged.

Return to Melbourne

At some point, it is necessary to return to the city. The 3-hour trip from the Grampians includes a break to buy dinner (at your own cost). After a day of exploring, take time to unwind and reflect on your experiences. You will arrive in Melbourne around 8.30 pm and can be dropped off at your original pick-up point or near public transportation.

NOTE: Child rates apply from 6 years to 12 years old. It is not suitable for children under 6 years old due to the nature of the tour and safety reasons.
