Itinerary

Description for a day trip from Darwin to Litchfield.

Litchfield National Park, located approximately an hour’s drive from Darwin City, is a world-class attraction renowned for its magnificent natural landscapes, lush monsoon rainforests, stunning waterfalls, and pristine plunge pools.

During the journey, there will be a stop at the Adelaide River. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in the optional Jumping Crocodile Cruise or visit the Fogg Dam Conservation Centre, located on the traditional lands of the Limilngan-Wulna people. The centre is well-known for its diverse wildlife, including various species of birds, turtles, water pythons, and saltwater crocodiles.

We visit century-old monolithic Magnetic Termite Mounds, some of the largest in the Top End. Additionally, we enjoy swimming in the beautiful natural plunge pools, spas, and whirlpools found at Buley Rockholes or Wangi Falls in Litchfield.

Afterwards, we visit Florence Falls or Tolmer Falls, impressive waterfalls carved into steep rocky cliffs.

After a day of relaxation and adventure in the tropical water wonderland, we return to Darwin feeling refreshed.

Adelaide River

The floodplains of the Adelaide River are home to a diverse range of bird species from around the globe. One can also observe Black Flying Foxes and Bull Sharks in this vital water system. A boat tour allows visitors to encounter the well-known inhabitants of the area, Saltwater Crocodiles.

Visitors can witness these apex predators in their natural habitat, observing the spectacle of the crocodile propelling itself out of the water with its powerful tail.

Our tours of Litchfield National Park offer the option to exclude the cruise if you have already done it. Instead, you can join your guide in exploring the nearby Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve (see below).
