Litchfield National Park
Join us on this one-day Litchfield National Park Tour to refresh, rejuvenate, and experience the stunning diversity of the Northern Territory.
These lands have historically been significant for the Koongurrukun, Marrnuggu, Werat, and Warray Aboriginal people. The diverse terrain, including rock pools, waterfalls, and various native bird and wildlife species, provides ample opportunities for photographers.
During this Litchfield day tour, visitors can explore the park’s iconic locations of natural beauty, learn about the historic landscape, and enjoy swimming in the pristine water pools available in the area.
Buley Rockholes or Wangi Falls
Discover the serene Buley Rockholes or Wangi Falls, nestled in picturesque bushland. Buley Rockholes provide a multi-level aquatic experience, perfect for swimming or unwinding in shallow waters, resembling a natural spa. The pristine water quality offers an authentic ‘spa’ sensation, especially under the swift cascades for a natural massage.
Alternatively, we might explore the iconic Wangi Falls, where the stunning plunge pool offers a refreshing swim in a breathtaking natural setting, invigorating you for the rest of our park journey.
*Note: Itineraries are subject to change based on seasonal conditions. Park areas may temporarily close or prohibit swimming. Ensuring safety remains our highest concern, so we tailor our plans for the most enjoyable and safest experience on Darwin Litchfield tours.
Florence Falls or Tolmer Falls
Experience the wonder of tropical waterfalls! The Tabletop Range’s sandstone plateau forms these dynamic cascades. Choose to descend 160 rewarding steps to the pristine swimming hole at Florence Falls or admire the majesty of Tolmer Falls from the elevated viewpoint.
The monsoon rainforest offers a unique tropical ambience unmatched anywhere else. Enjoy a picturesque stroll and stunning vistas of this verdant paradise.
*Note: Itineraries might change due to seasonal variations, and some park areas might occasionally close or restrict swimming. Prioritizing safety, we adjust plans to ensure guests enjoy a delightful and safe experience on Litchfield tours.
Fogg Dam Conservation Centre
The reserve managed by the Limilngan-Wulna People is a significant spot to observe the wetlands and understand the importance of the Adelaide River floodplains to native and migratory species.
Visitors can join a guide for a scenic walk through the pristine habitat if they choose not to go on the Crocodile Cruise. There are many opportunities to spot rare birds, water pythons, and freshwater turtles. Crocodiles are also likely to be seen in this wetland system.
Magnetic Termite Mounds
Humans are not alone in inventing ingenious methods of keeping cool! We pause to marvel at a fascinating natural wonder – Magnetic termites.
Learn how these intelligent insect inhabitants build colossal apartment-style dwellings that tower above us, providing exceptional photo chances. Take time to walk among these structures and uncover the hidden scientific principles behind their design.
Adelaide River
The floodplains of the Adelaide River are home to a diverse range of bird species from around the globe. One can also observe Black Flying Foxes and Bull Sharks in this vital water system. A boat tour allows visitors to encounter the well-known inhabitants of the area, Saltwater Crocodiles.
Visitors can witness these apex predators in their natural habitat, observing the spectacle of the crocodile propelling itself out of the water with its powerful tail.
Our tours of Litchfield National Park offer the option to exclude the cruise if you have already done it. Instead, you can join your guide in exploring the nearby Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve (see below).
