Philip Island Tours
Join our Phillip Island Penguins Tour and experience what Phillip Island offers. Phillip Island, located on Victoria’s South Coast, is home to a colony of about 32,000 Little Penguins. Every night, hundreds (sometimes thousands) of penguins come out of the surf and walk across the beach at the famous Penguin Parade. This full-day tour includes nature walks along the beautiful beaches and boardwalks of Phillip Island, interactions with the local wildlife, and, of course, the Penguin Parade. Your tour guide will inform you about the optimal seating locations in each Penguin Viewing Area for the best experience.

The itinerary for the Phillip Island Penguins Tour
Phillip Island is located 140 km southeast of Melbourne and has a population of just over 7,000 people. The island is known for its diverse range of animal species and significant areas of beauty, which hold scientific, historical, and archaeological interest.
Phillip Island's Koala Reserve
The drive from Melbourne to Phillip Island takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. Upon arrival, a Phillip Island Nature Parks Ranger will greet you and lead a guided walk through the Koala Reserve. During the walk, a presentation will be given on Koalas, the history and importance of the Reserve, and the remaining natural woodland on the island.
Explore Phillip Island's history and Aboriginal culture
The Yalloc Bulluck, a large clan of the Bunurong people, used to hunt, fish, and forage on Phillip Island. They would come to the island during Summer and egging seasons. The area was popular because of its abundant wildlife. Today, you can still see evidence of the Yalloc Bulluk foraging with middens at the Penguin Parade and Summerlands National Park. Phillip Island Nature Parks is actively working to preserve and educate visitors about these culturally significant areas.
Watch penguins at the Phillip Island Tour Penguin Parade
The Penguin Parade occurs after sunset when the Little Penguins come out of the water. They do this so they can avoid predators in the air. Photography is not allowed during the Penguin Parade. This rule exists because it protects the sensitive eyes of the penguins and ensures they are not frightened.
