Itinerary
Day 1 - Perth to Kalbarri
The Perth to Exmouth 7-day tour begins in Perth at 7:25 am and travels north along the coast towards the scenic coastline of the Indian Ocean. Visitors will have the opportunity to take a guided walk through the rock formations of the Pinnacles Desert. The tour will continue in the evening through Geraldton before staying overnight in Kalbarri.
Meals include lunch and dinner. Accommodation is provided at Kalbarri Backpackers YHA with a dorm and shared bathroom facilities. The driving distance is 575km. The hike distance is 2km with a Grade 1-2 difficulty level.
Day 2 - Kalbarri - Shark Bay
Today, you should explore the captivating Kalbarri National Park. Travel to Nature’s Window and marvel at the breathtaking rock formations. Don’t miss out on the Z Bend trail, which offers the park’s most spectacular views. In the afternoon, head towards Shark Bay and spend some time at a stunning beach with white cockle shells. For your stay tonight, Monkey Mia is the perfect choice.
The meals provided are breakfast and dinner. The accommodation is RAC Monkey Mia Resort Backpacker Dorms, with shared bathroom facilities. There is an option for Kalbarri Abseiling at Z-Bend. The driving distance is 450km. The hike distance is 3km with a grade of 3-4.
Begin your day with an exciting adventure at Kalbarri National Park by abseiling down the gorge walls with Kalbarri Abseil. No prior experience is required, as comprehensive on-site training will be provided. All necessary equipment will be provided as well. Capture moments on your camera while guests who are not participating can take photos for you. This thrilling activity can be arranged during your tour.
Day 3 - Monkey Mia - Coral Bay
This morning, you will witness a famous wildlife encounter in Australia. The Monkey Mia Dolphins swim to shore and are hand-fed in knee-deep water. Take some time to relax along this stunning coastline before visiting the Stromatolites. These are rock formations formed by a single-celled microbe estimated to be 3.7 billion years old. Tonight, you will journey to Coral Bay and stay overnight on the edge of the Ningaloo Reef.
Meals include breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Accommodations are provided in the Ningaloo Coral Bay Backpacker Dorms or similar, with shared bathroom facilities. The driving distance is 580km, and the hike distance is 2km with a Grade 1 difficulty level.
Day 4 - Coral Bay
You can spend the day exploring the Ningaloo Reef in Coral Bay. You can step from the beach into the warm turquoise water and snorkel the colourful reefs near the shore. If you want, you can join a snorkel or dive tour to explore reefs further. And, of course, you can relax and soak up the sun on the beach.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. Accommodation: Potshot Hotel Resort Backpacker Dorms with shared bathroom facilities. Options: Swim with Manta Rays, Snorkel Ningaloo Reef, Glass Bottom Boat Tours. Please note that guests cannot book Whaleshark Swims on this day as they return after the bus has left Coral Bay. Driving Distance: 155km, Grade 1.
Optional Activities: (pre-booking is recommended)
Experience swimming with Manta Rays on the Ningaloo Reef through Coral Bay Ecotours. Please note that snorkelling is only available for competent swimmers.
Coral Bay Ecotours offers a 5-6 hour tour of the Ningaloo Reef. The tour includes all necessary equipment, such as a wetsuit if needed. You will be provided with morning and afternoon tea and a buffet lunch of cold meats and salads. During the tour, you can witness the mesmerizing dance of the manta rays underwater. There will be two snorkelling sessions on the reef, where you can see various fish, corals, and possibly sea turtles and reef sharks. Additionally, the tour includes a visit to the turtle sanctuary, where you can observe turtles coming up for a breath in the shallows.
Experience the Ningaloo Reef’s glass-bottom boat tour with Coral Bay Ecotours.
Coral Bay Ecotours offers tours of the Ningaloo Reef on a glass bottom boat. Learn about the fish and corals under the glass. Choose between 1, 2, or 3-hour journeys. The 1 hour is just for viewing. The 2-hour journey includes glass viewing and a snorkel site. The 3-hour trip includes glass viewing, snorkelling, and visiting the turtle sanctuary. You can watch turtles feeding and coming up for air in the shallows at the refuge. The skipper may try to bring the turtles under the glass for you. Snorkel tours include equipment.
On [day], guests can’t book Whaleshark Swims as they return after the bus has already left Coral Bay. All optional activities in Coral Bay must be completed by 3:45-4:00 pm.
Day 5 - Exmouth
Today, you will explore Cape Range National Park. You will see spectacular scenes of rugged limestone ranges, deep canyons, and 50km of pristine beaches. You can visit Turquoise Bay, Vlamingh Head Lighthouse, relax at Milyering Visitors Center, and more. The tour will finish in the late afternoon, making it an incredible way to end your Perth to Exmouth tour.
The meals available are breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The accommodation is at Potshot Hotel Resort Backpacker Dorms or a similar option with shared bathroom facilities. You can choose between swimming with whale sharks (Mar-Sep) or humpbacks (Aug-Oct), but you must pre-book. The driving distance is 135km, and the hiking distance is 1km with a grade 1-2 difficulty level.
Optional Activities: (pre-booking is recommended)
Exmouth Dive Centre offers seasonal swims with Whalesharks and Humpback Whales from March to August, catering to competent snorkelers only.
Experience a memorable day on the water with Exmouth Dive Centre. Begin with a reef snorkel, observing stunning coral gardens and fish. You might even encounter turtles or reef sharks. Then, they will pursue humpback whales and whale sharks, aided by a spotter plane. The availability of the humpback whale swim depends on the willingness of the whales to participate. If they are not cooperative, the plane will search for another group. All necessary equipment, including wetsuits if needed, will be provided. Additionally, morning and afternoon tea, as well as a buffet-style lunch, will be supplied.
Day 6 - Exmouth - Geraldton
You will start your road trip to Perth today. It will be a long drive with many kilometres to cover. We will provide entertainment along the way. Before reaching our final overnight destination in Geraldton, the group will have their last dinner at The Murchison Tavern. After a long day of driving, discounted meals will be available at guests’ expense.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Accommodation will be at Geraldton Accommodation Backpacker Dorms or a similar option with shared bathroom facilities. The driving distance is 785km.
Day 7 - Geraldton - Perth
Visit the HMAS Sydney Memorial in Geraldton for stunning views. Take a walk along the three-bay walk in Green Head. Explore the dunes of Lancelin. You can even climb the dunes for an adventurous experience. Return to Perth in the late afternoon. Kick back and relax on the bus while enjoying the scenic countryside. Drop-off will begin around 6:00 pm as we return to Perth.
Meals for the day will include breakfast. The driving distance is 465km, and the hike distance is 1km, ranging from Grade 1 to Grade 3.
